PCNYC

Mission Statement

Mission:

The vision of PCNYC is to create an environment that encourages, educates, and strengthens School Based Parent Coordinators and families.  We aim to create a webpage full of guidance and resources that will empower both parent coordinators and families by providing the support, resources, and excellence they deserve and need to help public school families succeed.

About Us:

PCNYC was created by Ms. Sonia Kemp and Ms. Alexandra Felix,  two school based parent coordinators with a passion to mentor other parent coordinators and help families.

Often people walk to many parent coordinators, and they ask, "What do you do?" "What is your position about?"
As parent coordinators, we work on increasing parent involvement in our schools. We serve as facilitators for parent and the school community on issues as, school policies and facilities issues.  Conducting outreach to parents is one very factor when it concerns their children’s education.
Parent coordinators  play a very important role in many areas in the schools. We also work with parent associations/parent teacher associations, assisting them in establishing by-laws and perform their affairs in agreement with the Chancellor’s Regulation A-660.
We work on organizing all the open school night events increasing parental and community involvement.  Nevertheless, most importantly, we work in creating a welcoming school environment to all parents and guardians.
